Gerard Alberts, M.Ed., R.Psych., CCLC

Gerard has a vision and passion for helping people and organizations to develop and achieve their goals. Over the past 25 years, he has pursued professional and leadership opportunities consistent with his values, principles and ethics to support the progress and success of over 1000 individuals and almost 100 businesses and organizations.

After enjoying early opportunities as a musician, Gerard began developing his skills within the not-for- profit sector, including roles as a youth counsellor, psychometrician, and information systems coordinator for a large social services agency. In the meantime, he also pursued further education, training and career adventures to become a school psychologist, employee and family counsellor, and executive director of a counselling center before transitioning into business leadership.

While leading a diverse team of many professionals across Alberta serving an extensive customer base of large industry and government employers on behalf of a national workplace support firm based in Toronto, Gerard had the opportunity to discover and help create solutions for some of the most challenging HR, workplace and personal concerns. Subsequently, he applied his knowledge and skills as a Senior Consultant in the executive search and career management business, then as Alberta Director for the progressive international City University of Seattle where he was senior faculty for several years.

During this time, Gerard also developed and operated his psychology, coaching and consulting business, contracting his services to various organizations and individuals to address challenges, develop solutions and create successful outcomes.

Over the years, as a psychologist, Gerard has had the privilege of gaining the trust of numerous adults, youth, couples and families while counselling them through personal, relationship, educational, and career challenges. He has also conducted hundreds of assessments to facilitate educational, career, and mental health solutions.

Additionally, Gerard understands the diverse needs and challenges of business leaders and career-minded people working together to develop collaborative and effective teams in today's tumultuous marketplace. He has experienced the rewards of providing confidential coaching to enhance the success of many executive leaders, professionals, and hundreds of other personnel and teams across industries, including the energy sector, financial institutions, technology, agriculture, real estate developers, education, health care, social services, and other business and non-profit organizations.

Gerard completed a Bachelor's and a Master's degree in Psychology at the University of Calgary, supplemented by innumerable personal, professional and leadership development opportunities. With broad experience as a member of several associations, boards, and committees, he is a Past Chair and current member of the Calgary Industrial/Organizational Psychology Group, and a member of the Psychologically Healthy Workplace Committee (Calgary). He served for several years on the oral examination panels for candidates entering the psychology profession. As a licensed registered psychologist (Alberta), Gerard also holds coaching and assessment certifications from the Center for Creative Leadership (San Diego) and Birkman International (Houston), which have opened doors to a significant number of assignments. More recently, he was recruited by the progressive Niagara Institute of the Conference Board of Canada as a member of their executive coaching team in Western Canada.
